About Me

My career journey began after graduating in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, where I worked in various engineering roles for four years. While I enjoyed the precision and technical challenges of the field, I gradually discovered that my true passion lay in languages. This realization encouraged me to take a bold step and transition into a full-time translation career. After five rewarding years working with words, I eventually made the difficult decision to re-enter the workforce in a new direction.

As a translator, I’ve worked with agencies, businesses, publishers, and professionals, delivering translations that are clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive. My engineering background also allows me to approach technical content with confidence, ensuring that every translation is both precise and natural for Malay-speaking audiences.

Today, alongside part-time translation projects, I am also immersed in administrative work, where I support day-to-day operations and ensure that business processes run smoothly. This combination of roles allows me to balance my love for languages with the structured problem-solving I first developed as an engineer.

Books have been part of my life since childhood. My mother always surrounded me with reading materials, and over the years my reading preferences have shifted with different stages of life. I grew up in a fully Malay-speaking environment and also understand some Javanese, thanks to my grandmother and parents. For English, I studied it throughout school, but my fluency only truly grew during my university years. More recently, I’ve taken up learning Korean—to deepen my appreciation of the media I enjoy—and Mandarin, which I began in 2021 at my husband’s suggestion and now also study to support my son as he begins his education in a Chinese school.

When I’m not working, I treasure simple routines: sharing books with my family and friends, enjoying a quiet read, or pausing for a reflective moment over coffee. Lately, I’ve been drawn to books on focus, digital minimalism, and slowing down — ideas that inspire me to live and work with greater intention.0
